					I was under treatment for several weeks by Cindy Huerl for extreme tightness in my upper thighs and buttocks. Cindy's treatment and guidance reduced my symptoms by at least 85%; I very much got what I was hoping for.  She was attentive to my issues  and gave me appropriate and detailed instructions for self-care after my regimen was over. 					In the past….almost two years….I have managed to fracture my wrist in a fall and, as if that wasn’t  enough, I tore the meniscus in my left knee.  After getting a prescription for PT, I turned, of course, to GROSCHAN for help.  I have been a patient of that practice on a number of occasions….herniated disc, etc., so there was no doubt about where I would go for treatment.  For both of the  most recent problems I have been treated by Cindy Hoerl and she has been terrific, and that is not an exaggeration.  In addition to excellent treatment and remarkable results, she is patient, extremely knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor.  I feel lucky to have had her as my therapist. 					I have degenerating lumbar spinal issues that have made it impossible for me to walk any distance or stand, and it's been going on for more than a year.  Once primary care got some test results, they sent me to Gorschan & Associates.  The person that answered the phone put me at ease and scheduled all 8 of my prescribed appointments right away.  She got me the appointment time I wanted (7 AM).  Cindy Hoerl was my PT. She listened to me, pretty quickly had a good idea of what I knew, and worked within my knowledge to start the treatment. In my case, it was demonstration/instruction then me trying each exercise. The very first day she gave me some stuff to do to strengthen and tighten my core. It immediately took the pressure off my spine and gave me relief. Each visit, we added more to list of things to do. Cindy was very good at observing, and identifying each time I wasn't in perfect form. It was obvious how much the form made a difference.  I also learned how important it is to keep up with the exercises.  After the eight visits, I feel SO much better.  I can walk now, and stand about 20 times longer than I could before.  I highly recommend this practice.

					I did physical therapy with Groschan & Associates ten years ago, regarding a knee injury that was limiting my hiking.  Jim Groschan and his associates provided treatment and strengthening exercises that worked so well, I can no longer remember which knee was injured.  I'm still doing the exercises, and I'm leaving tomorrow for 3 weeks of hiking in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. I truly credit Groschan and Associates with the fact that I'm fully able to hike at age 73.  I'm very grateful.

					Jim Groschan has been my go-to PT for the past 15 years. He saw me through years of running injuries and always had me ready to go by my next race. A major rotator cuff rehab resulted in mobility that was ultimately better than it was before the injury. And his education and guidance during a recent knee injury unfortunately can’t fix the problem but has resulted in minimal medication and maximum usage with no pain. The office staff is wonderful and totally accommodating. PT is not something you look forward to needing but it is so nice to know that when you do need them Groschan and Associates are there for you!

					I have been going to Cindy for the past few months for a TMJ issue. I have never suffered with this problem before and this was really uncomfortable. Cindy taught me several tricks with positioning my head when sitting and watching TV as well as reading or using iPad. The massage, heat and exercise in the office has definitely helped and I feel I feel I am over the crisis!

					I am no stranger to shoulder issues. First rotator cuff repair (left) 2010, second rotator cuff repair (right) 2016. I had physical therapy elsewhere and eventually was able to return to normal activities, including my hobby playing golf within 6 months. With passage of time, pain returned, and my surgeon recommended physical therapy as a conservative route to eliminate the pain and lack of motion. Enter Jim Groschan upon a strong recommendation. After a couple months of therapy, Jim had me back on the golf course with an improved swing from a better posture. Jim watched me swing and corrected posture issues and shoulder position which may have caused all the problems in the first place. (He did such a great job, the first day he allowed a full swing I went out to play and got a Hole in One.) Back to playing 3-4 times a week I went on an away trip. Returning home at the airport, I made a stupid turn and lifted my luggage. Another tear which proved to be the end of my rotator cuff. Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement and again back to the therapist golf guru Jim Groschen. I am back to playing again with a better swing and pain free thanks to the care of Jim Groschan. He has knowledge of the body parts and their functions, especially for a golf swing. He has a caring personality to get you through hard stuff and a passion for the same thing as I, golf. The combination I find is just perfect.

					When I was experiencing extremely uncomfortable back pain of uncertain origin, my primary care physician recommended PT at Groschan & Associates. After just a couple of sessions with Jim, the back pain subsided and eventually went away. Jim was able to quickly diagnose what was causing the pain and then worked with me to improve my movements and awareness of what I needed to do to keep that back pain away. So far, so good! 					I was experiencing tingling and numbness in my shoulder and arm. These were symptoms from neck issues . My orthopedic surgeon recommended physical therapy. I was very fortunate to be scheduled with Cindy. Each visit she worked on certain areas of my neck and back. Cindy gave her full attention to trying to help me at each visit. The tingling totally went away in one arm and I’m hopeful with the exercises she gave me the rest will resolve as well. 					Four years ago I had a full knee replacement of my left knee. Though I went through PT and was released I was never comfortable with the range of motion achieved. Two years after the replacement I returned to my surgeon and asked if PT could help with the stiffness I felt and limited range of motion. He told me NO. Well thankfully, Groschan & Associates has proven him wrong. I had the pleasure of working primarily with Cindy, who is a consummate professional. She is so knowledgeable and always understood exactly what I was experiencing and addressing it in a way that I could understand. With her clear guidance I was able to understand exactly what was happening with my body and work on my own between visits. I felt like we were a team and we made great progress. Cindy also had me work with Emily, who did dry needling and cupping on me. These were new therapies to me and extremely successful. Emily was also wonderful to work with, knowledgeable, articulate, professional and kind. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Groschan. 					In March of this year (2023) my wife and I found ourselves in Baltimore for a month. Both of us were dealing with various muscular issues. In seeking help we were referred to Groschan and Associates by my wife’s sister. We each were treated by Jim Goschan over the span one month. 					A friend of mine had hip replacement surgery and took PT from Groschan and Associates. He spoke so highly of Jim Groschan and Melissa Blank, his therapists, that I decided to use the practice when my doctor recommended PT for my hip problems. From my first appointment, I was impressed with the professionalism of the front office staff to the therapists. I had the services of both Jim and Melissa at different times for my sessions. They evaluated my walking, sitting, etc. in order to provide appropriate and consistent treatment. I decided to get a second Orthopedic opinion on my hip. Jim encouraged me to do so and I mentioned who I would be seeing. 					I came to Groschan & Associates with a torn rotator cuff and could not raise my arm or even take my wallet out of my pocket without severe pain. Melissa Blank examined me, analyzed the CAT Scan report, and laid out a course of treatment.So as to not increase the inflammation and pain, she gradually introduced new exercises with ever increasing weight. If I could not tolerate an exercise, she substituted another so that I continued to make progress. Her gradual approach kept me motivated by allowing me to feel reduced pain and increased range of motion. Thanks to her, I have normal range of motion and can hold my 6 month old grandchild in my arms without pain.

					Unrelenting severe pain in my lower back and leg from an undefined athletic injury had completely immobilized me and drove me to Groschan and Associates (GA) for physical therapy and, hopefully, some relief. At GA, I found a staff that was highly knowledgeable, personable, experienced, patient, caring, and good at listening. GA not only administered excellent physical therapy to address a sacroiliac problem but also wisely encouraged me to pursue further diagnostic and treatment options from medical experts at a spine clinic. After facilitating an appointment for me with the spine clinic, GA modified my physical therapy routine to address spinal problems that had been detected by MRI and, later, to support the spine clinic’s pain mitigation treatments as well. At my last physical therapy appointment, I had progressed remarkably to 95% of full recovery. I walked away from GA fortified with a battery of stretching and strengthening exercises that would help me make a complete recovery and, also, play a safer game of golf. 					I had a severe back injury in October of 2021 that caused me not to be able to walk for 30 days. After seeing the spine surgeon, he recommended I see Jim Groschan and within a couple weeks I was back on my feet. I believe with their PT core strengthening methods I will be avoiding back surgery and back on the golf course very soon. I would highly recommend them to any of my friends and colleagues. I came in with severe elbow and hand problems at two different times. Sarah was able to work on these areas explaining what she was doing. My hand and elbow are now fine. Emily is working on my back and it is already feeling better. They are also very warm and friendly and fun to talk to! The time just flies by!

					As a practicing dentist for over 10 years I have had a few back aches from time to time...Comes along with the territory. However, about two years ago I began experiencing lower back pain to the point where it became almost constant. After just living with and doing nothing about it, it was time to address it. I have known Jim for over 8 years. He is a warm, likable guy....Very easy to get long with. I was also fully aware of his excellent reputation. I was able to get in right away and had my consultation with Jim. It lasted a full hour in which I received his undivided attention. I remember it very well because In this day and age of medicine, this is (sadly) rare. My next visit was with Jim’s daughter Emily. Just like her father, she is warm, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Between those two visits, I had a diagnosis and a plan...More importantly, one I could fully understand (they took their time and made sure I did). From here we went to work: First twice a week and then down to once as things improved. All told, it was about two months of therapy and while difficult at times, especially in the beginning, I enjoyed the sessions and even looked forward to them. In addition to the incredible on-site treatment, Emily provided me with at home exercises - Introducing them one at a time as to not to overwhelm me (to the point where I might quit keeping up). Their importance paramount, she stressed. Because of this, I have become more accountable - Taking better care of myself and I even developed a routine at home to keep me in line. I have been completely pain free and truly now realize what it is like to really feel good. I would also like to mention that their office manager Sarah is fantastic as well. 					I spent the last seven weeks in twice-weekly visits with Melissa Blank for help in alleviating a balance problem. Melissa has a wonderful combination of professional knowledge, energy and empathy. I am confident that if I keep up the exercises she taught me, I'll be able to maintain the excellent progress I've made. 					I wanted to let you know my progress 5 months out from partial knee replacement surgery. Trying to be a good consumer, I did a great deal of research prior to my surgery. Without exception, every piece of information I reviewed indicated that post-surgery Physical Therapy (PT) is the most important component to successful outcomes. The PT group associated with the surgical group was not going to be able to have me begin PT until 5-6 days post surgery! I expressed this concern to my surgeon who put me in touch with Jim at Groschan & Associates Physical Therapy. I feel extremely fortunate to have made that connection! Even though my therapy was self-pay (due to my medical plan), it was worth every penny. I have had previous PT experiences that were much less helpful than the PT I received with Groschan. In those previous situations, I would meet with the therapist for about 10 minutes and then they would take me off to a machine, flex bands, or some other device and after showing me what to do, let me just work on my own. With Jim and company, I was never ‘on my own’ working an exercise. Each new building block of exercises was built on previous sessions, completely explained, and I was observed every step of the way. Refinements were made where needed and the therapists made sure I was doing everything correctly. Initial sessions were 3 times per week and then gradually scaled back. I ‘graduated’ from PT 2 months after surgery and continue to work on the exercises I was given. My progress is excellent and just went on a hilly 5 mile hike yesterday with no problems. I’m convinced that while the surgery was important, the follow-up PT was really the key to getting my knee back in shape. Thanks to all the folks at Groschan & Associates! Bob Hood

					My sciatic pain started at the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic and it was quite severe. I was not comfortable starting physical therapy in person because of the pandemic and was referred to Grocshen PT because they offered PT by telehealth. I was amazed at how much can be accomplished using this method especially with a therapist as highly skilled as Jim Groschen. Jim listened and observed very carefully, assessed the problem, taught me the exercises I needed to strengthen weak muscles, provided feedback and encouragement, and addressed a number of intervening related problems during the course of my treatment. He was very patient and knowledgeable and always focused on the details of function . I learned how to incorporate the principles of movement he taught me into my daily routine which was of great benefit. I am delighted to say that I am now very happily pain free. 					Cindy is the best. Have been going for over a year. The fact that it is taking so long has nothing to do with her but, because I have too many birthdays, my problems are “greater than the norm” (whatever that is) and Arthur loves my joints and keeps on shifting his attack. Cindy knows just what to do as well as what my home regimen should be to continue making progress. I am going to be able to raise this arm voluntarily sooner rather than later, because there is increased muscle strengthening. 					I had a full shoulder joint replacement in May. Jim explained the shoulder mechanics and showed me how posture will help total body recovery. 					It was unfortunate I experienced multiple orthopedic surgeries in 5 years. It was a blessing I found your PT practice early in my journey. My initial exposure to therapy and recovery techniques was materially slowed by utilizing the "big machine" approach of the large hospitals. The boilerplate "one size fits all" approach they typically employ was clearly not improving my situation. Once I experienced the personalized, focused and attention to detail philosophy of Groschan and Associates my recovery succeeded more quickly and with greater knowledge than I could have hoped for. Groschan and Associates is out of network so there has been more out of pocket expense. But, the value of experience and hands on time far outweighs the cost. Groschan & Associates has a very deep bench of talented therapists, superb and flexible customer service, great location and easy parking. I strongly recommend your practice to every patient looking for knowledge and relief.

					Five star treatment and responsiveness from a caring and talented staff. Found them after the mega medical PT next door (JHU) that I had used in the past couldn’t get me in for weeks. Groschan is a much more relaxed and personal experience with therapists that care enough to actually follow up after imaging appointments or outside doctor visits to get updates.
