Jim Groschan PT

Jim Groschan PT
James Groschan, PT has been in practice since 1979. After receiving his Physical Therapy degree from University of Delaware, he began his career in at George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC.
Jim began his first version of independent private practice in 1987. The practice was acquired by by an national PT provider in 1994. Jim resumed independent practice in 2003 in our current location.
As the leader a fantastic team of clinicians and caring staff, Jim has continued to focus the practice on the high touch approach to patients. That means understanding what is important to the individual and providing care that is based on the principals of optimal movement.
Jim’s primary clinical interests include spine care, orthopedic rehabilitation, sports related injuries, golf performance enhancement.
Jim strongly believes in extensive ongoing continuing education and clinical skill development.
Married with three adult children (two of which are Doctors of Physical Therapy who are now part of Groschan and Associates), Jim enjoys time with his family. He also has a passion for golf and for travel. It probably won’t surprise you to know that in his free time, this means he is often travelling to play golf!

Cindy Hoerl MPT

Cindy Hoerl, MPT has focused on orthopedic manual therapy for the last decade and has turned attention in recent years to the use of lasers to treat orthopedic issues. She received a BA degree in biology from Carthage College in 1993 and a master’s degree in physical therapy from Concordia University in 1997. Cindy currently works with cold low-level lasers, an exciting treatment that has shown results in decreasing pain/inflammation and increasing range of motion while stimulating tissue healing. She prides herself in her caring approach to patients and her attention to their needs and concerns. Cindy believes in a strong hands-on approach to care as well as education focused on posture, core strength, and proper body mechanics. Cindy has worked with Jim since 2000.

Melissa Blank MPT

Melissa Blank graduated Summa Cum Laude from The George Washington University in 1997 with a BS degree in exercise science/pre-physical therapy. She received her master’s degree in physical therapy from Marymount University in 2000. Melissa worked in an outpatient orthopedic setting for 3 years prior to joining Groschan and Associates in 2003. Melissa specializes in orthopedic and musculoskeletal problems and vestibular therapy. She also has a passion for the geriatric population. Melissa is known for being very caring and dedicated to her patients and utilizes a hands-on manual therapy approach that incorporates posture/core stabilization and therapeutic exercise

Dr. Emily Gibson DPT

Dr. Emily Gibson DPT
Staff PTDr. Gibson is a 2012 graduate of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Quinnipiac University. Emily started off working in Enfield, CT at a Sports Medicine Center for two years and returned back home to Maryland in 2015. Emily enjoys walking, family time with her husband and daughter, watching movies, and trying new restaurants.
Emily’s clinical interests include orthopedic manual therapy and is certified in Functional Dry Needling since 2017. As with all of the therapists at Groschan and Associates, she has a strong foundation in posture, functional exercise and body mechanics. As part of her training, Emily has advanced skills in balance and vestibular problems. This adds a valuable new dimension to our practice.

Sarah Blanchard DPT

Sarah Blanchard DPT
Dr. Blanchard earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Quinnipiac University in 2012 along side of her twin sister, Dr. Emily Groschan. After receiving her doctoral degree, Dr. Blanchard completed the EIM Clinical Residency program. In addition, Dr. Blanchard is a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist, a degree that less than 5% of physical therapists achieve through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.
Sarah is passionate about her patients and helping them return to function. Her focus on restoring optimal movement and prevention of future injury is a large part of her practice. Sarah has advanced manual skills that she uses to help her patients achieve their goals. Sarah’s particular clinical interests are rehabilitation of spine issues, joint replacements, knee pain and shoulder dysfunction.
Sarah is now focusing her time on her two young children but will be returning to clinical care in the near future.

Staff PTMary Wilson PT has been in practice since 1980, receiving her physical therapy degree from University of Maryland. She began her career at Francis Scott Key Hospital , now known as Johns Hopkins Medical Center at Bayview. She later served as Clinical Director at a large private practice in Owings Mills prior to co-owing Wilson & Chizmar Physical Therapy in White Marsh for 12 years. She later served as Clinical Director at another physical therapy practice until joining the outstanding staff at Groschan Physical Therapy and Associates in January 2024. Mary is excited to be an integral member of this fine clinical team and is committed to providing high quality, individualized patient care. Mary values the importance of manual therapy, postural reeducation, functional and balance training as well as incorporating patients’ specific needs and goals in the tailored treatment plans. Mary’s clinical interests include orthopedic rehabilitation, post operative care and enjoys working with the senior population.
